Don Links Plaque, Board of Ed Candidates Night This Week

Penultimate farmers' market Thursday.

Plaque Dedication: The Madison Recreation Advisory Committee invites the public to the unveiling and dedication Saturday of the Don Links Plaque at the Madison Recreation Center.

The ceremony--meant to celebrate the time, effort and passion the former councilman, who died in July after a battle with ALS, put into the facility--is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

The committee said Links's wife, Joanne, and their 13-year-old twins will be attending, and the committee hopes the community can show overwhelming support in the form of an extremely large gathering.

Organizers said the event "will go ahead rain or shine, as Don would have intended. ('It never rains on a football field.')"

Candidates Night:
The League of Women Voters - Morristown Area is sponsoring a Madison Board of Education Candidates Night 7 p.m. Thursday in the Madison Community House, 25 Cook Ave.

The Madison school board's regular, open-to-the-public meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Alice Perlaw Library Media Center at Madison High School, 170 Ridgedale Ave. The board meets in closed session beforehand to discuss issues related to litigation, contracts and personnel. This week, closed session is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m., an hour earlier than usual.
