New Curriculum Director Starts Aug. 1

Matthew Mingle is coming to Madison from Hillsborough.

The Madison school district has a new director of curriculum and instruction starting next week.

The Board of Education approved the appointment of Matthew Mingle to the post at its Tuesday meeting.

Mingle, who was supervisor of social studies and gifted and talented K-12 in Hillsborough, starts in Madison Aug. 1.

Superintendent Dr. Michael Rossi said Mingle was picked after a review of 70 applicants and a selection process that included principals, supervisors, directors and board members, and a presentation.

Mingle attended the meeting with his wife, and Rossi said he welcomed them to the Madison community and educational family.

In May, the Madison Board of Education opted not to reappoint Lee Nittel, the district's last director of curriculum and instruction. He is now working as a principal in Randolph.

As director of curriculum and instruction, Nittel oversaw professional development for teachers, aligned district curriculum with federal standards, and was involved in supervising and evaluating all teachers.
