The wife of a volunteer Madison firefighter has been charged with embezzling more than $11,000 from the fire department's members over several years, police said Tuesday. A new law that prohibits underage drinking on private property in Madison with some exceptions won't take effect until after Drew University's May 17 commencement because of concerns the law could give students pause when considering calling for medical help if needed. Writing on a bathroom wall at Woodmont Elementary School in Montville prompted a bomb scare and an evacuation of the school Wednesday morning while police and a bomb squad checked the building to be sure it was safe, police and school officials said. No bomb was found. Police have released a slideshow of an individual they are trying to identify who was on Finley Lane in Wayne at the time a home on that street was burglarized April 20.
