Bruce Lovenberg of the Long Valley section of Washington Township is the winner of the Madison Athletic Foundation’s first 50/50 Cash Raffle drawing, held at noon on Saturday at the Madison Recreation Complex. State Sen. Richard J. Codey pulled the winning ticket, which is worth nearly $80,000. The MAF sold tickets since January for $100 per ticket. Organizers believe the raffle is the biggest in the history of Madison community fundraising efforts. The Madison Athletic Foundation’s first 50/50 Cash Raffle drawing is scheduled for noon on Saturday at the Madison Recreation Complex located off Ridgedale Avenue in Madison. Former Governor and State Sen. Richard J. Codey will pull the winning ticket, which is expected to be worth close to $75,000, according to a foundation news release Thursday. The MAF has been selling tickets since January for $100 per ticket and the raffle drawing amount is believed to be the biggest in the history of Madison community fundraising efforts, the news release said. A longtime Essex County Democrat will look to make book in Morris County, and for a good cause. Gov. Richard Codey, now serving as State Senator for the newly redistricted east end of Morris County's District 27, will sign is new book, Me, Governor?, on June 26 at Poor Herbie's, 13 Waverly Place, from 4-6 p.m., to benefit the T.J. Martell Foundation. In his book Codey recounts his experiences in the rough-and-tumble of New Jersey politics, including serving as Governor when Jim McGreevey stepped down unexpectedly. The books for the signing are being donated by Codey, and the cost per book is $24.95 and proceeds will go to the T. J. Martell Foundation for Leukemia, Cancer and AIDS Research.
