Budget Hearing, Field Studies, Salon Cut-a-Thon This Week

Presidents Day: Madison Schools are closed Monday for the holiday. Cut-a-Thon: Salvatore Minardi Salon, 8 Park Ave., will hold a fundraising cut-a-thon from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday to benefit the Union Beach Memorial School Education Foundation, part of Madison's borough-wide efforts to help the shore town after Superstorm Sandy. Salon services will be provided for women, men and children over 7 during the event. Personalized cuts begin at $40. The First Baptist Church of Madison will host its annual Poor Man's Lunch and MLK Birthday service at the church starting at noon. Library Re-Opens, Last Council Meeting This Week

Library Opens: The asbestos removal project at the Madison Public Library "has been successfully completed" and will open at 10 a.m. Monday, according to a notice on the borough website. Last Meeting: The Madison Borough Council has its final meeting of 2012 on Monday, with Councilmen Don Links and Dr. Vincent Esposito's terms on the council up at the end of the year. The public portion of the meeting is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. in Council Chambers at Hartley Dodge Memorial. Museum Tour: The Museum of Early Trades & Crafts is holding a curator tour starting at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Curator of Collections Siobhan Fitzpatrick will lead an in-depth exhibit tour. Chamber Raffle, State Final, Menorah Lighting This Week

Open Studio: From 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, Monika Fine Millinery, 9 Myrtle Ave., is opening its studio to the public for hats, hat chat, and refreshments. Chamber Holiday Open House and Basket Raffle: On Thursday, participating stores will hand out raffle tickets to customers to participate in a free basket raffle, with more than 25 baskets to be raffled off at 6:30 p.m. Participating merchants will display balloons outside their premises. The event begins at the start of business and continues throughout the day. Baskets, with values ranging up to $350, will be on display at Coccia Realty, 49 Main Street.
