Tenth annual event is scheduled for Sunday, May 5, at Madison High School.
The Madison Education Foundation approved 16 teacher-initiated educational enrichment grants totaling $61,000 during its Fall Grant Cycle.
'The support we received from the community was incredible,' MEF Co-President Mary Schaenen said.
Postponed by storm, fundraiser will include a silent auction with items such as this painting by local artist Karen Matte.
Ninth annual fundraising run is almost here.
The Madison Education Foundation is encouraging all area residents to join the Ninth Annual Madison 5K Run/Walk/Kids’ Fun Run on Sunday at Madison High School, 170 Ridgedale Ave. Check-in begins at 9 a.m. and the race starts at 10 a.m. The Kids’ Fun Runs (11 and under) start at 11 a.m. Last year's run drew 500 participants. The event offers a certified 5K road race, tricky tray raffle, kid-friendly goody bags and entertainment for the whole family. Funds raised will go toward grants to enhance Madison classrooms for students at all grade levels, according to an announcement for the event. The Madison Education Foundation approved 17 grants totaling $59,000 during its Winter Grant Cycle, including 14 new document cameras at the elementary schools, the foundation announced in a news release. Combined with grants approved during the Fall Cycle, teachers in the Madison schools have been awarded nearly $100,000 in educational enrichment grants with an additional grant cycle still to come.
