The Madison Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations of borough business owners and employees for annual award.
If you've dealt with someone at a Madison business who goes above and beyond to provide exceptional customer service, the Madison Chamber of Commerce wants to hear from you. The chamber has announced it once again is offering the Extra Mile Award to a Madison business owner or employee who provides "that extra-special friendly and knowledgeable service" to truly make a difference in a customer’s shopping experience. The Madison Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations from the public until June 1. A Madison dentist, a Main Street shop owner and a certified public accountant will get behind a bar Thursday to take part in a "bartender showdown" to benefit a scholarship fund for high school graduates who plan to study commerce in college. The Madison Chamber of Commerce is partnering with Poor Herbie's to hold the fundraiser from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Waverly Place restaurant to raise funds for the Chamber’s Jack Morris Memorial scholarship fund. The scholarship is given in memory of Jack Morris of Stewart-Morris Awards, Gifts & Flags as a tribute to his commitment to the Chamber and to the Madison community, according to a chamber news release. The Madison Chamber of Commerce is preparing to bring the Easter Bunny and plenty of candy and toy-filled Easter eggs to downtown businesses during its 5th Annual Easter Fun Fest on Saturday, March 23, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Children and their parents are encouraged to bring their Easter baskets and visit participating downtown businesses to collect candy and toy-filled eggs. The event is free of charge. Children can visit with the roaming Easter Bunny and enter to win a new bicycle donated by Peter Daniele of Rose City Collision, 291 Main Street, and provided by the Madison Bicycle Shop, 14 Kings Road. New initiative asks residents to encourage business owners in other towns to check out the Rose City.
Elected officials and business leaders in Madison want residents to "help find the next great downtown business." Councilman Bob Landrigan said a grassroots initiative asking borough residents to do just that is being started by the Madison Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Development Commission and borough officials. He announced the plan during the governing body's meeting last Monday and said the idea came out of a meeting with Mayor Bob Conley, Chamber President Ken Toumey and Downtown Development Commission Chair Eric Range. Open Studio: From 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, Monika Fine Millinery, 9 Myrtle Ave., is opening its studio to the public for hats, hat chat, and refreshments. Chamber Holiday Open House and Basket Raffle: On Thursday, participating stores will hand out raffle tickets to customers to participate in a free basket raffle, with more than 25 baskets to be raffled off at 6:30 p.m. Participating merchants will display balloons outside their premises. The Borough of Madison's thorough disaster plan was managed and executed with the utmost professionalism and care for the benefit of Madison's citizens, visitors and businesses. Under dangerous, once-in-a-lifetime circumstances the people of the Borough of the Madison quickly restored power to the business district. That was a big step back to normalcy for so many. The Madison Chamber of Commerce held its Annual Awards Dinner on Tuesday evening at the Hamilton Park Hotel & Conference Center. Awards included the Jack Morris Memorial Scholarship Award, Business Improvement Awards, Community Service Awards, the Extra Mile Award and this year, for the first time, the Hall of Fame Award. The scholarship award, given to graduating students who plan to continue their higher education in the field of commerce and are chosen based on their personal achievement, letters of reference and academic performance, was presented to Philip Duffy, Nicole Iannarone and Siobhan McCulloch.
