A silver handgun was used in attempted robbery Thursday at Giro Express, Madison police said.
A man showing a silver handgun attempted to rob a money transfer store on Cook Avenue in Madison on Thursday, borough police said. Authorities were looking for the man on Thursday afternoon, Madison Police Chief Darren Dachisen said. The store, Giro Express, offers check-cashing and money order services. Madison police and Morris County Sheriff's Office investigators, including the county K-9 unit, were at the scene. Dachisen said the man—described as Hispanic and wearing a light-colored, possibly corduroy jacket—apparently was spotted at another location nearby, but no robbery attempt was made there.
