Report shows County College of Morris had a higher rate of students moving on to continue education than 19 other community colleges in the state.

The County College of Morris (CCM) leads the state in having the highest percentage of students transfer from the school to continue their education according to data released by the U.S. Department of Education last week. The data also revealed CCM to have a lower cost when compared to other national community colleges. The school's transfer rate was 6 percent higher than the college with the second-best rate, according to a press release sent by the school. New federal website allows prospective college students to compare institutions of interest.
The cost to attend County College of Morris is low compared to its national counterparts, according to a new, interactive website designed by the United States Department of Education. The website, created after President Barack Obama called for colleges to be held accountable for “cost, value and quality,” gives families and prospective students critical information to make decisions on college choices, according to the Department of Education. According to the Scorecard, the average net price (the cost after grants and scholarships are subtracted) to attend County College of Morris is $5,195. Dear Editor, On Nov. 6, New Jersey voters will be asked to approve the first major investment in New Jersey college facilities in 24 years. The Building Our Future Bond Act, which will be on the ballot as “Question 1,” would provide $750 million in capital improvements for academic and research facilities at the state’s 49 colleges and universities. The funds would be targeted for academic buildings and could not be used to construct sports facilities or dormitories. Also, each college is required to match the funds they receive by 25 percent. As a college student, I am confident this investment will help prepare New Jersey students for the global marketplace; attract businesses, innovators and entrepreneurs; and power the state’s economy …

Classes in ASL will begin in the fall.
The County College of Morris will offer American Sign Language starting in the upcoming fall semester, according to a press release from the college. Fall semester begins on August 30.
Registration is open for the County College of Morris' fall semester, which begins on August 30, 2012. Students who are accepted to CCM can register online, by mail, or during an in-person registration session on August 25, 27, 28 or 29. Prospective students can apply online at www.ccm.edu or in person at the Admissions Office in the Student Community Center on 214 Center Grove Road in Randolph. CCM has more than 70 degree programs and more than 75 transfer agreements with four-year colleges and universities.

County College of Morris professor of music José Beviá has been selected to participate in the Jazz Composers Orchestra Institute (JCOI) at the University of California, Los Angeles, this summer, according to a Wednesday press release from the college. Beviá, who was selected from a national pool of candidates, will compete with as many as 34 other composers to earn a spot as one of the five composers who will be asked to write an original orchestral piece. The retiring president of Verizon New Jersey, Dennis Bone, recently received the 2012 County College of Morris (CCM) Foundation Leadership Award at the foundation’s annual gala, a fundraiser that also raised scholarship money during the event held at the Dolce Hotel and Resort in Basking Ridge. In addition to presenting Bone with the CCM Foundation award, the evening recognized four of the college’s alumni and featured musical performances by students in the CCM Performing Arts program. The April 27 gala at Dolce was near the Verizon Center off North Maple Avenue in Bernards Township.
