Real estate company's 950 employees have moved into new building on Park Avenue.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony for Realogy's new Park Avenue headquarters is expected to bring the governor to Madison next week. Gov. Chris Christie will be the guest of honor at the event Thursday morning, the real estate company said. Richard A. Smith, Realogy's chairman, CEO and president, Jon Hanson, the founder and chairman of Hampshire Real Estate Companies, which developed the former Verizon property, and Madison Mayor Bob Conley are expected to be in attendance. Realogy's relocation to Madison from Parsippany brought 950 employees to the borough. They moved in stages starting in April and finished moving in by the end of May. During a press conference in Trenton Tuesday, Gov. Chris Christie called for a special election to fill the seat left vacant by the death of longtime Sen. Frank Lautenberg. As a result, a primary election will be held Aug. 13, with the special election scheduled for Oct. 16. Lautenberg’s vacant seat will be held by New Jersey Attorney General Jeffrey S. Chiesa, who will not run in the Oct. 16 special election, for the time being. He will assume office on Monday, cutting the Democratic majority in the Senate to 52-46. President Obama checked out a record-breaking sand castle, played a football boardwalk game and "high-fived" lots of kids during a short visit to Point Pleasant Beach early Tuesday afternoon before speaking in Asbury Park. Britain's Prince Harry did what most people do on a sunny, spring day in Seaside Heights – take in the ocean views, then play some boardwalk games. Harry came to Seaside Heights with Gov. Chris Christie Tuesday morning after the two toured destruction caused by Superstorm Sandy in Mantoloking. The pair drove south on Route 35 and entered the boardwalk at Grant Avenue where crowds of people were waiting for their arrival.
