Madison Girls Basketball Stands Tall Against Morris Catholic

The Dodgers hold their own until the third quarter, fighting until the end.

The Madison Dodgers girls basketball team was defeated on Thursday night at home against the Morris Catholic Crusaders. With their 56-37 loss, the Dodgers are 8-11. The game was closer than one would suspect by looking at the final score. Halfway through the third quarter, the Dodgers were only trailing by two, 26-24, but in the second half of the quarter the Crusaders went on a 15-4 run. Going into the fourth it was 41-28 Morris Catholic. "They played with such spirit and fight tonight," said Madison head coach Stephen Finkelstein. A few of Madison's bench players were missing and they only had seven players available for the game. Morris Catholic had 15 players and were substituting regularly to keep their girls fresh. The Dodgers did …

Madison Girls Basketball Falls to Chatham

Dodgers lose back-to-back games for the first time this season, despite a big late-game rally.

The Madison High School girls basketball team fell short of a road win last night, falling to the Chatham Cougars 48-37. Madison rallied in the third and fourth quarters to bring the game within one possession, but Chatham's height in the paint and quick transitions proved to be too much for the Dodgers to handle. Madison had some trouble shooting, and despite a big performance from the bench, the Dodgers lost their second game in a row. The first quarter was characterized by great defense, as both sides had trouble finding the hoop from the floor. Chelsea Davies scored the first points of the game for the Dodgers, and Even Foulsham's return to the starting lineup proved to be a factor, as she picked off a Cougar pass after running the …

Madison Girls Basketball has Tough Time with Hanover Pk.

Hornets' size and talent prove to be too much in road contest.

The Madison High School girls basketball team could not overcome the size and strength of the Hanover Park Hornets on Tuesday night, dropping to 6-4 with their 46-33 loss at Hanover Park High School. “I expected them to be a lot bigger. It was hard to battle that size,” said Dodgers head coach Stephen Finklestein. Hanover started to dominate in the middle early, driving the ball and passing inside to Annie Esposito and Lauren Dougherty, who overpowered Madison for lay-up after lay-up. Along with the shooting of Liana Iutzi, the Hornets took the lead early and never lost it. The Dodgers struck first with a rebound and shot by Rachel Misko, taking the initial lead 2-0 at the beginning of the game, but that was the only lead they would hold, …

Madison High School Girls Basketball Rolls Over St. Elizabeth

Dodgers ride big performances by Caruso and Foulsham.

When it's time to rebound from a tough loss, a team rallies around the players that have gotten it wins in the past. That's just what the Madison High School girls basketball team did on Saturday. Stellar defense and outside shooting from Ali Foulsham and Nikki Caruso carried the Dodgers past St. Elizabeth in a big way for a 48-18 victory. The first quarter was back-and-forth. Rachel Misko got the ball rolling with a layup, Caruso hit a long 3-pointer and a layup, but the Madison defense was the reason the game stayed close at first–their relentless full-court press forced several turnovers.  St. E scored several times, though, to end the first eight minutes ahead 9-7. In the second quarter, the Dodgers started heating up. Caruso was true …
