Drug Mix-Up at Chatham CVS Resolved With State

Some parents found the breast cancer drug Tamoxifen commingled with their children's fluoride pills.

The state Division of Consumer Affairs and CVS-Caremark have reached an agreement addressing the commingling of prescription drugs at five New Jersey locations in 2012, including at the pharmacy chain's location on Main Street in Chatham. A total of 15 parents who filled their children's chewable fluoride prescriptions in December 2011 and January 2012 at the CVS Pharmacy in Chatham Borough reported noting tablets in the bottles that were not like the others. The strange pills turned out to be the breast cancer drug tamoxifen. Both pills are white, round and about the same size. Mom With Infant Was on Drugs, Stole From CVS, Cops Say

Roseland resident found under influence of drugs after allegedly stealing formula and baby bottle.

A 32-year-old Roseland woman was arrested in the CVS parking lot Sunday night after she was caught shoplifting, under the influence of drugs and driving her infant around in the front seat, police said. Sonya Jones was charged with DWI, failure to properly secure a child in a car seat and shoplifting. According to the Florham Park Police, Jones was caught stealing baby formula and a bottle from the CVS on Columbia Turnpike at about 9:15 p.m. Sunday. When Officer Geoffrey Rothrock arrived, Jones was in her car in the parking lot, police said. Rothrock noticed Jones had an infant in the front seat of her car in a baby seat loosely belted in, police said.
