iPod, Wallet Reported Stolen From Car on Hempstead Court

Resident went to his car in the morning and realized items weren't there.

A Hempstead Court resident went to his vehicle one morning last week and discovered his wallet and mp3 player were missing, police said. The resident reported the burglary at 8:15 a.m. last Tuesday, according to Madison police. In addition to the wallet and iPod, some change also was missing, Det. Kenneth Shannon said. The investigation was turned over to the Madison Police Detective Bureau. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 973-593-3000.

Visitor Charged With Thefts From Drew Dorms

Teen charged with four counts of burglary, seven counts of theft, Madison police said.

A three-week investigation of thefts from Drew University dorm rooms has led to the arrest of a 19-year-old Lake Hopatcong man, Madison police said. Adam Davieau was arrested last Monday by Det. Sean Plumstead and charged with four counts of burglary and seven counts of theft as a result of the investigation, according to a Madison police news release. Davieau was a visitor on campus the night of the thefts and the investigation and evidence led to his arrest, police said. Davieau turned himself in at police headquarters, where he was processed and released pending a court appearance, according to police. Plumstead is investigating 17 other burglaries and thefts on the campus since October, police said.

Police Investigate Maple Ave. Burglary Attempt

Resident reported an attempted break-in, authorities said.

Madison police are investigating an attempted burglary at a Maple Avenue home, authorities said. Patrolman Chris Keller responded to the home on Friday after receiving a report of the incident, which occurred sometime during the night, according to a borough police news release. Keller's investigation showed someone did attempt to access the home and Detective Sean Plumstead responded to process the scene, police said. Plumstead and Det. Lt. Jerry Mantone are continuing the investigation, according to police. Additional information was not immediately available.

Arrests Made in Connection With Residential Burglary

The following arrest information was supplied by the Madison Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Two men have been arrested in connection with an October residential burglary on Rosedale Avenue, Madison Police said Monday. Det. Ken Shannon arrested John Mitchell, 30, of Linwood, on Friday and charged him with burglary and theft in the Oct. 25 break-in of a home on Rosedale Avenue, police said. After a three-month investigation, information and evidence led to Mitchell’s arrest, the department said in a release. No other details were disclosed. Mitchell was processed at the Essex County Jail where he is being held on other criminal charges. Bail was set at $10,000 pending a court appearance. A second individual, 40-year-old Will Jordon of Newark, was also charged with burglary and theft from the same home, and is being held at the …

Police Release Sketches of Burglary Suspects

Man and woman wanted in connection with April 29 break-in.

If you can you identify suspects wanted in connection with an April 29 burglary in Madison, law enforcement wants to hear from you. Morris County CrimeStoppers released sketches of a man and woman sighted in the area of the break-in on Ardsleigh Drive. Police said the woman was driving a blue or black four-door car, possibly a Honda Civic. Police Ask Residents for Info on Two Borough Thefts

Pomeroy Road, East Lane burglaries happened early Monday; Car and pocket book were found at Orange/West Orange boarder.

The Madison Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding two recent burglaries to contact them. The department sent out an alert Wednesday morning, describing two thefts that occurred Monday during the early morning. The report said a Pomeroy Road resident reported their 2004 BMW had been stolen. Police determined the thieves entered the residence through an open garage door and took various items and the keys to the vehicle. The report also said an East Lane resident discovered a damaged screen where entry was made through an open window through their residence.
