Strategic Planning, Candidates Night, Ed Foundation Gala This Week

A look at the week ahead in the Rose City.

Madison's governing body is expected to discuss the borough's strategic planning process and a veterans plaque at the Madison Recreation Complex during its Monday meeting.

Proclamations recognizing November as Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month and honoring Katelyn Baumgartner for her dedication and commitment to the 4-H Club are among the items on the agenda.

The public portion of the meeting is scheduled for 8 p.m. Monday in the municipal building, 50 Kings Road.

Board of Education: Madison's school board is scheduled to meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Madison High School library.

Candidates Night: The League of Women Voters - Morristown Area is sponsoring the Madison Borough Council Candidate Night 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Madison Community House, 25 Cook Ave.Maureen M. Byrne, Robert G. Catalanello, Sam Cerciello, Jeffrey J. Gertler and Patrick W. Rowe are vying for two seats.Candidates will be given time for opening and closing statements and time to answer written questions from the audience.

Madison Education Foundation Gala: The Madison Education Foundation (MEF) will hold its fourth annual adult social, Fall Fête, from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday at The Madison Hotel, 1 Convent Road, Morristown.  The evening will raise funds to support the work of MEF, which awards grants to K-12 teachers for initiatives that energize the creative and academic lives of students but are beyond the school budget.

The evening will feature a silent auction and live music by jazz pianist, Jerry Vezza. Among the unique items in the silent auction: a Mediterranean Cooking Class with accompanying wines donated by Beth Rutland, Beth Hurley, Christina Haralampoudis and Maria Jacqmin, which will be held at the Jacqmin’s Madison residence.

Event tickets are $85, which includes all food and beverages. Registration is also available online at www.mefnj.org.
