Three Madison Wrestlers Advance in Regions

Davis, Colwell and Mazzocchi set to wrestle on Friday.

Three Madison High School wrestlers are headed to the quarterfinal round of the Region 3 tournament on Friday night.

Though three moved on, only one wrestled and won on Tuesday night at Union High School.

That wrestler was 103-pound sophomore Patsy Davis.

Davis, coming off of a tough double-overtime loss in the district finals on Saturday, made quick work of his opponent as he pinned Brearley's Dylan Oliva in just 40 seconds.

"Davis did what we expected tonight," Madison head coach Steve Healey said.

The other two Dodgers to move on are seniors Ryan Colwell (145) and Christian Mazzocchi (152), as both received byes to the quarterfinal round.

Wrestling and losing in the preliminary round from Madison were junior 140-pounder Eamon Epstein, senior Anthony Costa (160), and junior heavyweight Mike Boardman.

All three wrestlers lost by pin.

"Three of five wrestlers moving on is good," Healey said. "Unfortunately we lost a few matches tonight, but hopefully Davis, Mazzocchi and Colwell will have success on Friday and Saturday," Healey said.
