More Than 600 Sweat 'With Pride' in Pfizer 5K [PHOTOS]

Annual race at Giralda Farms benefits Project Community Pride.

Hundreds braved Wednesday evening's heat to run the Pfizer 5K Run With Pride on the Giralda Farms office campus in Madison.

More than 600 people pre-registered for the event and others signed up on the day of the event, organizers said.

For around 20 years, the annual 5K, formerly the Wyeth 5K, has benefited Project Community Pride, a non-profit agency that offers families from Madison, Florham Park and Chatham clinical mental health services, including individual and group therapy.

Madison Mayor Bob Conley thanked Pfizer and race participants for supporting Project Community Pride.

"You don't know how many kids they've set in the right direction," he said.

Project Community Pride program specialist Lara Shaljian said the organization is thrilled to receive support from Pfizer each year.

The future of the 5K is uncertain. Four hundred employees of Pfizer's animal health subsidiary Zoetis are moving to an office in Florham Park, and around 475 employees of Pfizer's Consumer Healthcare division are relocating within Giralda Farms near the end of the year.

Last week, Pfizer signed a lease to relocate the division to One Giralda Farms from its current location at Five Giralda Farms. Pfizer has said it is pleased to be staying part of the Madison community.
