Madison's Winning Streak Ended by Hanover Park

School record for consecutive wins stands at 39.

The Madison Dodgers' school record-setting winning streak came to an end Saturday when rival Hanover Park beat Madison 27-7 at home.

The school paper, The Dodger, called it "a stunning and emotional loss" and Joe Hofmann wrote in the Daily Record the third game of the season had the feel of a state playoff.

Madison's 39-game winning streak was the longest going in the state. That distinction is now held by West Deptford, which has 24 wins in a row, according to NJ.com.

At the end of the game, Dodgers lined up to shake hands with Hanover Park players and coaches, and showed Madison "lost as it wins, with class," The Dodger said.

Next: Madison High School plays Hackettstown 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at home.
