Madison Cheers on Its Little Leaguers

Hope springs eternal at parade, opening ceremonies for new season.

On a picture-perfect morning in the parking lot of , hundreds of Madison's future superstars gathered for the procession down Main Street for the start of the Little League baseball and softball seasons. Seasoned middle school players, the T-ball players and everyone in-between paraded through the streets to Opening Ceremonies at Dodge Field.

Parents and players thronged the infield as Little League President Ernie Cicconi emceed the event, including a soulful tribute to the flag, and an invocation by Msgr. George Hundt of St. Vincent's.

Two two longtime Madison volunteers were inducted into the borough's Wall of Fame: Ralph "Dukey" Sandello and Chief Louis De Rosa, who where honored for their decades of selfless dedication to the young people of the Rose City.
