Madison Blasts Jefferson to Remain Unbeaten

Five different players rushed for eight touchdowns and Madison showed why it’s considered among the state’s elite teams with a 56-8 victory over Jefferson on Friday night. Justin Goodwin, Carson Lassiter and Dave Luttinger each rushed for a pair of scores for the unbeaten Dodgers (5-0).

Shone Register and Layton Lassiter also rushed for scores for Madison. The Dodgers built a 42-0 advantage at the half and never looked back. Their unbeaten string extends to 30 games with the triumph. Kamaali Roberts rushed for an 80-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter for Jefferson (4-2).

IN SHORT
It was no contest. Offensively, the Dodgers built a 42-0 lead at halftime, stopped to enjoy the Senior Day festivities and then took advantage of the running clock the rest of the way. The Madison ground game was superb. The Dodgers consistently ground it out against the Falcons. On defense, Madison swamped standout Falcons quarterback J. R. Reese and never allowed the junior signal caller to generate a passing attack or run for yardage. Madison is running on all cylinders and should be in top form against road foe Lenape Valley next week. 

DODGER(S) OF THE GAME
Give some love to the offensive line. Tight ends John Young and Collin Scarpello, tackles Will Mottola and Michael Ubertaccio, center Billy Kennedy and guards Matt Fastiggi and Jaywon Brown opened up plenty of holes for the Madison rushers and quarterback Carson Lassiter to dash through. They helped opened up a big lead on a good Falcons team and didn’t stop until the Senior Day victory was well in hand.

“The whole line is new this year except for Collin Scarpello, one of our tight ends. That was the big question mark. Last year we lost our whole line so coach definitely got them in shape this year. … Our line is really athletic. We have guys that can move just as fast as the running backs can. That’s definitely an advantage for us. When you get the ball and you see that hole is already there, you take off. It makes our job a lot easier. … Jefferson is a really good team. "We are always ready to play. I have never walked onto the field knowing our guys weren’t ready to play. It was a special game, senior night and all that for us. Our guys play well in big games. That is what our guys are capable of. Will we always do it, who knows? But it doesn’t shock me when we play this well."
