Bennett Goal Lifts Madison to Final

Dodgers stop Hanover Park for third time this season.

An impressive postseason run took another step on Tuesday as the Frank Nunez-led Dodgers advanced to the North 2, Group II finals on Tuesday with a 1-0 win over Hanover Park in Madison.

After stopping their division rival twice in the regular season, Madison (13-6) took it to Hanover Park for a third time this season, as senior Vincent Bennett intercepted a ball played by Hanover Park goalie Tom Pescatore in the 71st minute and fired it into the back of the net to help Madison earn the big semifinal win.

Despite the first half concluding with both teams taking a total of two combined shots, the Dodgers were able to regroup and earn their biggest victory of 2011, firing off nine second half shots, while Madison keeper Matt Gilbert stopped five shots.
