Kings Road School Wall to Be Fixed This Summer

Board of Ed also reviewing the status of Torey J. playground equipment that may have been damaged in Superstorm Sandy.

The Madison Board of Education on Tuesday authorized Parette Somjen Architects to submit plans and paperwork to the New Jersey Department of Education for repairing an outside retaining wall at Kings Road School.

The wall has deteriorated and parents have commented on its condition at board meetings. The project is included in the district's proposed budget and the board has withdrawn $175,000 from its maintenance reserve for the repair.

The school board's buildings and grounds committee also plans to review the status of playground equipment at Torey J. Sabatini School when it meets this week. Parent Johanna Habib on Tuesday said some equipment has been roped off since October and that it apparently was damaged in Superstorm Sandy.
