Morris School District to Remain Closed Monday

Several schools still do not have power.

Students in the Morris School District will get at least one more day off on Monday.

The district waited until late Sunday afternoon to announce that all district schools would remain closed on Monday, Nov. 5., "due to continued road closures and power outages throughout the community," according to the Morris School District website.

According to the Morris School District calendar, students were expected to have four-hour, 20 minute sessions Monday and Wednesday this week for "conferences." But, during a Board of Education meeting on Thursday, it was decided that schools would be open full days all week if hurricane-related issues were not still keeping buildings from opening. School was scheduled to be closed Tuesday for "staff development" and Thursday and Friday for the annual NJEA Convention in Atlantic City, which has been cancelled as a result of Hurricane Sandy.

Correction: A previous version of this story indicated no decision had yet been made regarding whether or not to open schools this week when originally scheduled to be closed.

My kids are happy right now but we are so early in the year and haven't had snow problems yet. Not good. Anyone remember how many snow days are allotted each year in our district?

And about srd, how bout we put the money into our old and sagging infrastructure. And how did so many Texans get involved? My husband was a Texan and we spent lots of time there. But truth is, they don't have building codes much down there and what they do have, well nobody paysmuch attention anyway, at least where we were ..... which was Dallas.

Which doesn't mean they aren't really nice people.
