MJS Students Support Union Beach Families With Check for Camp

Movie showing raised $1,050.

Madison Junior School held a movie showing as a fundraiser for Union Beach families in December, a year after students and staff went to the shore town to help with Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts.

Madison Mayor Bob Conley accepted a check for $1,050 on Jan. 8 from Madison Junior School teachers and students on behalf of the Madison Area YMCA.

The funds were raised at a showing of "The Polar Express" in December, and will be used to support the Union Beach Campership program so children in Union Beach can attend sleep-away camps over the summer, according to an announcement about the donation.

Last December, MJS students and staff joined Hurricane Sandy relief efforts in Union Beach and saw damage caused by the storm. The movie fundraiser was part of a continuing effort to assist families there.
