Graddy places 18th in triple jump.

junior Jack Mahoney placed 13th in the 1,600-meter run at the State Track & Field Championships Thursday in Old Bridge. With temperatures in the mid-90's, Mahoney turned in a time of 4:24.33.

Also competing for Madison were seniors RJ Graddy in the triple jump and Aaron Shinn in the pole vault. Graddy placed 18th in the triple jump with a best effort of 43-feet 5-1/2 inches. Shinn did not clear the opening height of 13 feet in the pole vault.

Lightning in the area forced officials to postpone the conclusion of the meet, which is scheduled to resume Monday at 6 p.m. at Old Bridge's Lombardi Field. Events to be completed include the boys and girls 3,200 and 4x400 relays; boys shot put; boys long jump; girls triple jump, and girls javelin.
