Madison Climbs in 'Best High Schools' Rankings

U.S. News & World Report ranked Madison High School No. 27 in the state.

Madison High School ranks No. 27 among the "Best High Schools" in New Jersey on a list published by U.S. News and World Report this week.

Madison High School's state ranking was two spots better than last year, when it ranked 29th. It's national ranking improved to No. 382, compared to No. 502 last year. For being in the top 500 high schools in the U.S. out of more than 20,000 public high schools analyzed, the publication gave Madison a "gold medal" designation.

U.S. News said it worked with the American Institutes for Research to evaluate schools based on state-mandated proficiency assessments, AP test results and how effectively schools educate the "least-advantaged" students.
