Drew Magazine: Racist Caricature of Jefferson's Slave Found in University Archives

Sketch just recently found amongst Thomas Gibbons' papers at Drew.

An article in "Drew Magazine" details and shows a sketch of Sally Hemings, a slave whom Thomas Jefferson is believed to have fathered five children with, which was discovered recently in the Drew University archives. The caricature was found amongst papers that belonged to Thomas Gibbons, who was the father of the man who built the university's Mead Hall.
