The Japanese restaurant at 42 Lincoln Place will donate 15% of the profits earned from 5 - 8 p.m. to Tommy’s Angels Relay for Life team.

Relay for Life, the annual 14-hour walk-a-thon benefitting the American Cancer Society now in its fifth year, will take place at June 24-25. Teams walk the track during that time and celebrate those who have survived, and remember those who have lost their lives, to cancer.

Four hundred participants and 35 teams are expected at the event; registration opens at 4 p.m. and ceremonies get underway at 6 p.m.

Tommy’s Angels was founded in 2009 in support of Tommy Sych, a local teen and cancer survivor. The Team has been participating in Relay for Life for three years running, and in that time has raised more than $10,000 for cancer research and prevention.

In May students joined with their counterparts from , , and for a Mini-Relay for Life event.

This was the third year that Kings Road held a Mini-Relay for Life, the second for the Junior School, and the first year for Central Avenue. Not only did the elementary students have lots of fun, the high school students did as well. More than $1,646 was raised for the American Cancer Society.

A Mini-Relay for Life is a shortened version of the Relay for Life. Students walked with their classes, usually during their gym period. The classes are split to play games half the time and to walk half the time, so students were always on the track.

Students can honor those who they know that have died or survived cancer by participating in this event, and were also given the option of raising money for the American Cancer Society.

Students who ran the Mini-Relays for Life May 20 as part of the high school's Day of Service are part of Tommy’s Angels Relay for Life team.

In late May, the Team raised over $300 for the American Cancer Society at a Vendor Fair at the in Madison.
