College Commencements Coming

A New Jersey Supreme Court Justice will speak at Drew and the founder of the Center of Art for Peace in El Salvador will speak at the College of St. Elizabeth on Saturday.

A New Jersey Supreme Court Justice is scheduled to speak at and the founder of the Center of Art for Peace in El Salvador is scheduled to speak at the College of St. Elizabeth on Saturday morning as they address graduates.

New Jersey Supreme Court Justice and lauded civil rights proponent Barry T. Albin will serve as the main speaker at Drew University’s 144th Commencement on May 12.  Albin will join former Board of Trustees Chair Barbara Morris Caspersen; community development champion Wilbert Mitchell; and renowned medical ethicist Edmund Pellegrino in receiving an honorary doctoral degree from the school, a school news release said. The ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m.

Sister Margaret Ann O'Neill, founder and director of the Centro de Arte para la Paz (Center of Art for Peace) in Suchitoto, El Salvador, will speak at the College of St. Elizabeth commencement, which begins at 10 a.m., according to the college's website.

in East Rutherford. Newark Mayor Cory Booker will be FDU's commencement speaker. Jill Abramson, executive editor of The New York Times, and Zygmunt “Zygi” Wilf, FDU alum and real estate developer, attorney and owner of the Minnesota Vikings, will receive honorary degrees.

“In selecting a speaker and honorary degree recipients, our committee of students, faculty and trustees strives to find individuals of great distinction whose values mirror Drew’s own,” said Drew President Robert Weisbuch, who is . Madison resident Vivian Bull .
