Candidate Pico Has BOE, Volunteer Background

Madison resident one of six candidates for BOE seats.

At least one of the candidates besides the incumbents running for one of three available seats on the Madison has previous experience representing a school district.

Borough resident Carmen Pico previously served on the Randolph Board of Education.

Pico, 61, is a Madison native and graduated from in 1968.

Pico, who is a frequent figure at borough council meetings, attended the County College of Morris. In information supplied to Patch, he said he worked as an assistant engineer for Channel Home Centers.

Pico also served on the Randolph Board of Adjustment, and worked as a volunteer for recreational sports in Randolph and Madison, as a Little League umpire and recreational football coach.

"I'm a firm believer in quality education for all students," Pico said. "I also believe our school system needs a variety of people on our BOE so that there is a broad spectrum of decision-makers. They say variety is the spice of life, and I want to be that spice."

Pico joins , , and incumbents David Arthur and Shade Grahling as candidates for three-year terms to be decided in district elections scheduled for Wednesday, April 27.
