Townhouse Development Proposal Hearing Delayed

Next hearing on construction proposed for 4-6 Elm St. will be Oct. 13.

The Madison Zoning Board hearing on the proposed construction of nine townhouses in the borough has been postponed until Oct. 13.

The scheduled hearing of LVJJ Investments, seeking to construct a nine-unit townhouse development at 4 and 6 Elm Street, was to have been held Thursday night at but has been rescheduled for the Oct. 13 meeting at the request of the applicant’s attorney.

The applicant will be requesting approval for the preliminary and final site plan. The plans require variances from Maximum Allowable Density, Minimum Front Yard Setback, Minimum Rear Yard Setback, Minimum Side Yard Setback, Maximum Building Coverage, Maximum Impervious Lot Coverage, and Maximum Building Height.

In other business, the zoning board approved several applications from borough residents seeking to build additions on their homes, build front porches and add patios. Among the approvals:

  • David Calabria, Keep Street, seeking to construct a front porch;
  • Allen Spatola, Rose Avenue, seeking to construct a detached garage and make modifications to his driveway;
  • Antonietta and Gregory Castano, Knollwood Avenue, requesting permission to construct first- and second-floor additions and expand their driveway;
  • Seneca Cooke Enterprises, seeking to construct a two-story rear addition to a residence on Lathrop Avenue;
  • Jonelle Marchese, Drew Place, requesting to construct an addition, screened porch and stone patio;
  • Alan Glicklich, Green Village Road, seeking to construct a rear addition and driveway expansion with retaining walls;
  • John and Mary Beth Forte, Albright Circle, seeking to construct a second-story addition, front addition, two rear additions, and a second-story deck;
  • Joseph Jeffrey, Fairwood Road, requesting permission to construct two dormers;
  • Bo Xu and Quang Ma, Valley Road, seeking to construct two two-story additions and a second-floor addition;
  • James and Kristen Blair, Rosemont Avenue, requesting permission to construct a two-story addition with rear cantilever and front portico;
  • Mike and Stacy Ozol, Knollwood Avenue, requesting permission to construct a two-story addition and paver walkway. Residents of several homes near the Ozols’ property protested the proposed addition due to its size and water drainage problems in the neighborhood.

The zoning board’s next meeting will be Thursday, Oct. 13 at 7:30 p.m. at Hartley Dodge Memorial Building.
