Two Acting Sergeants Appointed Within Madison PD

Both James Cavezza and Joseph Longo promoted from their previous rank of patrolmen.

Two resolutions recognizing Madison police department promotions were approved Monday, as a roomful of cheering residents congratulated the two officers.

Both James Cavezza and Joseph Longo, current patrolmen, were promoted to acting sergeants at the regular council meeting held at town hall on Monday night.

The resolutions authorize the appointment of the acting sergeants, effective Monday.

Both Cavezza and Longo rose from their seats to roaring cheers, and circulated through the council’s meeting room, shaking hands and greeting each elected official and member of the mayor’s administration.

As they had made their rounds, Mayor Bob Conley said a more formal recognition would be held at a later date.
