Poll: Should Esposito Resign From Madison Council?

Councilman faces second-degree charges for allegedly writing fraudulent prescriptions.

Accused of selling prescriptions to undercover agents, Madison Councilman Vincent Esposito's future on the governing body and his position as the school district's physician remain uncertain.

Board of Education President Lisa Ellis told Patch on Saturday that Superintendent Michael Rossi will consider if Esposito should be removed from his role with the district.

When asked Friday about how the second-degree charges of distribution of a controlled dangerous substance and conspiracy would impact Esposito's position on the council, Borough Attorney Joe Mezzacca said he could not immediately say for sure.

“I cannot answer that,” Mezzacca said. “Certainly, it’s not a good thing.”

What do you think? Should Esposito, whose term ends this year, resign from the governing body while he faces these charges? Take our poll and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

Yes, he should. It's embarrasing not only to his family, but to the town as well. Nobody knows..yet..who he was giving the prescription drugs to. What was he thinking? Did he ever think about his family, his career and reputation?

I think doc. esposito and the council should sit down and find out what will be best for him and madison.

Yes, he should resign immediately. The evidence against him is overpowering, and we need to have trust in our representatives to ALWAYS do the right thing.

Lets hear his side. He was always thorough with me.

He probably was through with you and many others, but what about the others he didn't examine...like the narcotic agent.....8 prescriptions later

The funny thing about everyone commenting is no one knows what is going on just what is being reported in the media which most people know that the media only reports what they want and not the full story. For people who have no idea what the whole story is you all have a lot to say. People need to just wait and see how this whole thing plays out rather than pass judgement on a man who you do not even know. It's sad that this is what this community has come down to.
