New Vice President Picked for Madison Board of Ed

Kevin Blair appointed vice president, Lisa Ellis reappointed president, new members sworn in.

Lisa Ellis was reappointed president and Kevin Blair was appointed vice president for 2014 at the Madison Board of Education's reorganization meeting Tuesday.

Newly elected members Johanna Habib and Leslie Lajewski were sworn in and joined the eight-member board. James Novotny was reappointed as the board representative for Harding Township, which sends students to Madison High School.

Superintendent Dr. Michael Rossi announced new video segments about the district are running on Madison's local access cable channel, and will be available online.

Auditor, attorney raises

Board members Thomas Haralampoudis and David Arthur opposed two items on the agenda appointing and awarding increases to the district's auditor and the firm that provides legal services on special education matters: an annual fee of $40,400 for auditor Nisivoccia & Co, and increased hourly rates for Comegno Law Group for special education/general education matters.

The law group's rates are $180 an hour for attorney services and $90 an hour for paralegal services. The attorney services rate increased $5 an hour, and the paralegal services rate increased $15 an hour.
