Madison to Broadcast Alerts Over Radio

Rose City's frequency is 1630 on the AM dial.

Madison is setting up one more way for residents to get alerts in the event of power outages, severe weather or other emergencies.

The Rose City plans to establish its own radio station with a 10-year license from the FCC. Messages would be pre-recorded for the station and added as needed, Borough Administrator Ray Codey said.

The borough also plans to look into ways to provide discounted or subsidized transistor radios for senior residents.

"It just gives us more tools to get our messages out," Codey said at the July 22 Borough Council meeting. "It's 1630 on the AM dial."
