Popular Bus Service Ends, Parking Enforcement Resumes

Madison's approximately weeklong stint organizing charter bus service to New York has come to an end.

With limited NJ Transit train service restored, the borough announced Tuesday it was discontinuing the popular charter buses.

"Limited service is now being offered from the Madison Train Station to Mid-Town Manhattan," the borough announced on its website. "As such, the Borough is dis-continuing the charter bus service that was provided during the service outage. Thank you."

For $20 round-trip, commuters filled three buses at the Madison Train Station from around 6 a.m. until 7 a.m., with the buses departing as they filled.

Madison Police also announced in a Nixle alert Tuesday that parking enforcement, temporarily suspended after Superstorm Sandy, resumes Wednesday. Madison had announced there was free parking in borough and commuter lots until service resumed, and said the free parking was an opportunity to support Madison merchants.
