The money is being awarded through the New Jersey Historical Commission's General Operating Support Grant Program and will benefit projects in Madison, Montville, Dover, Mount Olive and countywide initiatives.

Grants have been awarded through the program for the past 12 years in an effort to preserve the historical organizations so that the public can continue to enjoy and learn about them. In the past, grants have been awarded to projects to conserve documents and history programs, enhance sites so that they are in compliance with American Disabilities Act standards and recruit history students to help volunteer with the individual groups.
