Former Rec Building Headed for Auction Block

A public hearing on an ordinance to rezone 10 Maple Ave. is scheduled for the Monday Borough Council meeting.

A former recreation department building across Maple Avenue from could be auctioned off as a single-family home sometime after Labor Day and Madison has budgeted receiving $250,000 for the home, officials have said.

A proposal to rezone the property at 10 Maple Ave. so it can be used as a single-family home instead of a government building .

The property consists of 0.155 acres and is adjacent to a parking lot.

"The Borough seeks to ensure that the future use of the property remains consistent with the existing residential structure thereon, as well as the adjacent R-3 neighborhood" and "the proposed re-zoning is consistent with the goals and purposes of the Master Plan and Land Development Ordinance of the Borough of Madison," the proposal says.
