Field Upgrades by Madison Little League Approved

Planned improvements at Dodge and Rosedale fields to be completed with donated materials and labor.

Dodge and Rosedale fields could have a new look come Opening Day on April 20.

Plans to move the batting cage at Rosedale Field to a new location near the parking lot and install picnic benches in its place, and to install two new batting cages at Dodge Field and install concrete pads in the dugout areas there, were given the go-ahead by Madison's governing body on Monday night.

Madison Little League President Ernie Cicconi gave a presentation on the plans, which would be completed by Madison Little League with donated materials and labor.

The Madison Borough Council approved a resolution gratefully accepting the donation and granting permission for the the installation to be done by the league under the direction of the Superintendent of Public Works.

Cicconi said the batting cage's current location at Rosedale obstructs views of the games, and the dugouts at Dodge Field often have puddles in them.

A small pavilion to give people an area to sit in the shade near the food hut at Rosedale Field also is envisioned. Temporary awings for the Dodge Field dugouts similar to those at the Lucy D fields also are planned.
