FEMA Disaster Recovery Center Opens in Morris
Morris Plains center is open seven days a week to answer questions about what help is available.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has opened a Disaster Recovery Center at the Morris Plains Community Center, 51 Jim Fear Drive, for residents impacted by Hurricane Sandy, according to an announcement from the Morris County government.
The center will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week until further notice.
A Disaster Recovery Center is where applicants may go for information about FEMA or other disaster assistance programs, or to get answers to questions related to their individual case, according to the federal agency.

Services may include:
- Guidance regarding disaster recovery
- Clarification of any written correspondence received
- Housing Assistance and Rental Resource information
- Answers to questions, resolution to problems and referrals to agencies that may provide further assistance
- Status of applications being processed by FEMA
- Small Business Administration program information
Residents can register for Individual Assistance at the Morris Plains center. Residents can also register online at DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362).
