Drew U. Project Memorialized By Planning Board

School set to construct new University Center.

The Madison Planning Board memorialized the preliminary and final major site plan for 's new University Center at its regular meeting Tuesday night at Hartley Dodge Memorial.

The panel previously approved plans for the center, to be located at 36 Madison Avenue, at its March 16 meeting.

Construction is slated to begin this summer with completion expected by June, 2012.

The new center will be modernized, with a reflective roof and other features making the structure almost one-third more energy efficient.

The University Center currently is home to a bookstore, post office, pub, snack bar, student newspaper, student government offices, and a game center.

Drew in an accompanying land use proposal will erect a fence around more than 15 acres on the west side of campus, to keep out deer and boost reforestation.

The board also memorialized a resolution adopting the borough's Master Plan Re-Examination Report which addresses zoning, renewable energy facilities, and ordinances to cover LED signs, among other issues.
