Borough Taking Requests for Free Mulch

Local landscapers may pick up mulch at DPW yard for $15 per cubic yard.

The borough has announced how residents can request a delivery of from the Department of Public Works.

Residents can call 973-593-3088 to sign up, and the DPW will deliver a load of mulch to their driveway the following Friday.

Local landscapers also may collect mulch at the department's yard on John Avenue for $15 a cubic yard.

After chipping numerous branches and trees that fell during the October snowstorm, Madison wound up with way more mulch than it needed.

Superintendent of Public Works David Maines told the Borough Council about the situation on Monday and officials decided residents could receive deliveries of the mulch for free.

The borough needs about 500 cubic yards so volunteers can spruce up the borough on May Day. But Maines said they have way more than that—about 2,000 cubic yards.

The Madison is offering to deliver free mulch to Madison Residents.  Please call 973-593-3088 to sign up, and your DPW will deliver a load of mulch to your driveway the following Friday. The DPW will not be able to spread the mulch.  We invite local landscapers to collect mulch at our yard for $15 a cubic yard.  We will not be able to repond to requests made via fax or email.
