Bob Conley Invites Residents to "Town Hall" Meeting Wed., Oct. 19

Democratic mayoral candidate reaching out to residents.

Councilman Bob Conley, candidate for Madison Mayor, invites all residents to join him at a "town hall" meeting Wed., Oct. 19th at 8 pm at the Community House on Cook Ave.  Conley states:

"I want to know what borough services are most important to Madison residents. The three spring town hall meetings I organized were very revealing. The residents identified the Madison Public Library as the number one service they wanted, followed closely by strong fire and police departments. In these times of tight budgets and limited resources, borough officials need input from the residents to do their jobs properly and fairly. This current Council has made decisions about your services without your input. As your Mayor, I will make sure your voice is heard. Together we will restore fiscal planning and discipline. Please plan to attend my "town hall" meeting Wed., Oct. 19th."

Former councilwoman Carmela Vitale, who is running for a seat on Council, offers her support for the Town Hall meetings and the initiative Conley has shown. “Bob is showing real leadership. The earlier town meetings gave us an opportunity to listen to the residents of Madison. That’s what the mayor and council members are supposed to do: listen.”

Conley will also discuss how Madison funds the maintenance of the borough's physical infrastructure.  He observes that “the General Capital Budget, which pays for the maintenance of our roads and sewers, is running out of money. We must have a much more disciplined approach to capital management.  We need to develop a long-range capital plan that Madison can afford.  And then we must stick to it.  We must also stop missing opportunities for matching grants from the state and other funding sources.”
