2nd Candidate Seeking GOP Write-Ins

Carmen Pico hopes Republicans write him in for the party's nomination.

Madison resident Carmen Pico, who and previously served on the school and zoning boards in Randolph, is the latest of two candidates to announce he is seeking write-in votes in the Republican primary in June.

John Hoover, president of the Madison Board of Health, in hopes of being one of the party's two nominees in the general election come November.

Two Borough Council seats are up for grabs, but . Republicans had said they might field a write-in candidate to fill out the GOP ticket.

Pico, a Mendham Township schools bus driver, is a 1968 graduate of . He attended the County College of Morris and has volunteered as a Little League umpire and recreational sports coach. In Randolph, he served as a volunteer firefighter and he previously worked as an assistant maintenance engineer for Channel Home Centers, he said.

During an April Borough Council meeting, Pico over the council's since-reversed move to fire the borough administrator, saying the suggestion was disrespectful. He said Tuesday people make mistakes, and council members rethought the decision to dismiss the borough administrator.

He has urged council members to focus on the North Street Pump Station project.

"I'm all about honesty and integrity," Pico said. "I'm a hard worker and I'm a fighter."

Pico said he would focus on having Madison run like a business, keeping it well-maintained and affordable.

Former Councilwoman Astri Baillie and Ben Wolkowitz have filed to run on the Democratic ticket.
