Madison Mother Charged With Buying Alcohol for Underage Son, Two Others

Drug charges, brief chase on the week's blotter.

Three Madison men were charged with underage possession of alcohol, while the mother of one of the men was charged with allegedly providing the alcohol, police said Monday.

Kevin Reinhardt, 18, Johan Escobar, 20, and Vincenzo Martirano, 19, were charged Friday night with underage possession of alcohol.

Ptl. Ken Shannon observed what police described as suspicious activity in the parking lot of Gary’s Wine & Marketplace at about 8:50 p.m. He stopped Reinhardt’s vehicle near 159 Main St., and determined that the thee occupants were allegedly in possession of alcohol. They were transported to headquarters for processing and released pending mandatory court appearances.

During processing and the investigation, Shannon determined that Michela G. Reinhardt, 49, also of Madison, had allegedly purchased the alcohol for them. She is the mother of Kevin Reinhardt. She was issued a summons for purchasing alcohol for underage persons, pending a mandatory court appearance. Ptl. Craig Perrelli assisted with the arrest.

Ptl. Sean Plumstead arrested Lynn Copeland, 31, of Dover and Nathan Gould, 29, of Morristown Thursday night at about 6:10 p.m. They were both charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

Plumstead initially stopped Copeland on Main Street near Sampson Avenue after running a computer check on her license plate. He was alerted that she was driving with a suspended driver’s license.

Plumstead determined they were allegedly in possession of narcotics. They were both transported to headquarters for processing and released pending a mandatory court appearance. Copeland was also issued a motor vehicle summons for driving with a suspended license.

Early on the morning of March 22, Ptl. Luis Goncalves arrested Dante Durso, 18, of Mendham.

He charged him with driving under the influence. Goncalves was called to the area of Main Street and Green Village Road on a report of a car accident. After a brief investigation, a witness informed Goncalves that the driver fled the scene on foot.

With the help of mutual aid from the Chatham Borough Police Department, Durso was located and returned to the scene. Goncalves determined that he was allegedly operating his vehicle under the influence of alcohol. He was taken to headquarters for processing and released to a family member pending a mandatory court appearance.

Durso was also issued motor vehicle summonses for leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, careless driving, driving while on a cell phone device and underage possession of alcohol. 

The , , and responded to approximately nine medical emergencies during the week.
