Holiday Decorations Stolen From Main Street Display

One large candy cane recovered by Madison police.

Two large candy canes, red ribbons and twigs were reported stolen from a Christmas display in front of a Main Street store.

The owner of the store reported the missing items to Madison police Nov. 30, and one of the candy canes later was found on Main Street by Madison Patrolman Matthew Mirabella, who returned it to the store, police said.

Anyone with information about the missing items can call Madison police at 973-593-3000.

It's not the only incident involving Christmas decorations Madison police recently were called about.

After the display items went missing, a resident reported their holiday lights were cut twice in one week. The incidents led the Daily Record, in a post headlined "Grinches messing with Christmas in Madison," to wonder if the Grinch is in town.

Whoever is behind the incidents, we expect Madison Santa is not too happy about it.
