Security Cameras, Call Box Installed at MRC

New surveillance and communication system to help Madison police protect recreation complex.

It just got easier for Madison Police to keep an eye on the Madison Recreation Center, and for people at the complex to contact police in an emergency.

The borough has announced there are interactive cameras installed at the MRC that give the dispatch center "the ability to view Madison Recreation Complex instantly, day or night."

An emergency call box linking the complex, which is off Ridgedale Avenue next to Madison High School, to the police department also was installed.

The borough said the installation of the equipment was a team effort involving electric, fire, police and building code officials, public works and and information technology staff and community members:

(Electric Utility Superintendent Michael) Piano and Electric Utility crew installed several utility poles and assisted with the conduit run. Community member Peter DeRosa shared the trenching equipment and expertise to extend cable into a secure facility. Fire Chief Lou DeRosa untangled the fiber optic cable and confirmed that all of the lines were talking. Building Code Official Russ Brown and Police Lieutenant Darren Dachisen installed all the panels and cabinets. Lew Cornine of the department of Public Works was invaluable taking care of some last minute modifications to the camera brackets, and the borough Information Technology staff tied it all together.
