Response to Drew University Leads to Drug Arrest

Police also charge Madison man with DWI following motor vehicle stop.

On Sept. 18, police arrested Benjamin Sherer, 19 of Summit, and charged him with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police responded to Drew University and were alerted by Drew Public Safety Officers who found Sherer allegedly in possession of the narcotics. He was transported to headquarters for processing. After Processing he was released pending a mandatory court appearance.

On Sept. 19, police arrested Robert Caetta, 21 of Madison, for driving while intoxicated. Police initially stopped Caetta for a motor vehicle violation. It was determined that he was driving while allegedly under the influence of alcohol. He was transported to headquarters for processing. After processing he was released to a family member pending a mandatory court appearance. Caetta was also issued a motor vehicle summons for failure to maintain vehicle lamps.

The Madison Police Department, Fire Department and Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to approximately 18 medical emergencies during the past week. The police department investigated six motor vehicle crashes during the same period.
