A Madison resident who had an active warrant for his arrest out of Essex County was one of two motorists arrested in the borough Friday for alleged drunk driving, Madison police said.
Jabari Allen, 32, of Madison was arrested at 4:04 a.m. Friday by Patrolman Sean McCarthy and charged with driving under the influence after he was stopped by McCarthy and, following a field interview, determined to be allegedly driving drunk, police said.
A computer check alerted police to an active criminal arrest warrant for Allen for failure to appear in Essex County Superior Court, police said. After processing, he was released to the Essex County Sheriff’s Department, police said.
In a separate incident, Madison police arrested Caitlin Monaghan, 26, of Basking Ridge at 11:09 p.m. Friday and charged her with DUI, police said.
Monaghan was stopped in the area of 24 North Street and, after a field interview, was determined to be allegedly driving drunk, police said. She was arrested by Patrolman Luis Goncalves and processed at police headquarters, police said. She was released to a friend, police said.
Correction: A previous version of this story reported an incorrect time for the arrest in the North Street incident.
