Philadelphia Man Arrested for Alleged LSD Possession

Narcotics and DUI arrests top weekly police report.

A Philadelphia man was charged with possession of LSD after being stopped by Madison Police.

Giorgio Johnson, 22,  was stopped while walking by Madison Patrolman Ken Shannon on an unidentified borough street on Dec. 10 at about 11 p.m. Shannon discovered Johnson had an active arrest warrant issued by Madison Municipal Court for failure to appear.

The acid was alledgedly found during a subsequent search, police said. Johnson was charged with possession of narcotics, possession within 1,000 feet of a school zone and possession with intent to distribute.

After processing at , Johnson was transported to Morris County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 bail pending a mandatory court appearance. Detectives John Miscia and Paul Kosakowski assisted with the arrest.

On Dec. 17 at approximately 3:22 a.m., Sgt. Peter Iossa arrested Brittany Callahan, 20, of Livingston, and charged her with driving under the influence, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Iossa stopped Callahan for speeding and the officer determined that she was operating her vehicle while allegedly under the influence of alcohol, police said. During processing at police headquarters, Iossa also found what police said was marijuana in Callahan's possession. She was also cited for speeding and released to a family member pending a mandatory court appearance.

On Dec. 18 at approximately 12:10 p.m., Patrolman Mike Minni arrested William West, 29, of Madison, on an active arrest warrant issued by Madison Municipal Court for failure to appear. West was released on bail pending a mandatory court appearance.

Madison resident Gustavo Cardenas, 49, was arrested Dec. 18 at approximately 11:11 p.m. Iossa charged Cardenas with driving under the influence. Cardenas was initially stopped for driving without his headlights on. He was booked at police headquarters and released pending a court appearance.

Edgar Chacon-Avila, 31, of Green Village, was arrested after his car struck a tree on Shunpike Road Dec. 19 at approximately 7:10 p.m.

Patrolman Paul Papamarkos, who responded to a report of a car accident, determined that Chacon-Avila was allegedly driving under the influence, police said. Chacon-Avila was processed at police headquarters and released to a friend pending a mandatory court appearance.

The Madison Police Department, Fire Department, and Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to 12 medical emergencies during the week, and police investigated nine motor vehicle crashes during the week.
