Police Blotter: Two Arrested for Drug Possession in School Zone

Madison police also make arrest for shoplifting.

On Feb. 8, police arrested Salisa Rivera, 28 of Madison, and charged her with shoplifting. Store loss prevention officers stopped Rivera and contacted the Madison Police Department. Police determined that Rivera had shoplifted several store items. She was transported to headquarters for processing. After processing she was released pending a court appearance.

On Feb. 10, police arrested Rodroigo Ruiz, 21, and Christopher Palmer, 18, both of Dover, and charged them with possession of marijuana, possession of narcotics with the intent to distribute within a school zone, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police initially stopped Ruiz for a motor vehicle violation. He determined both Ruiz and Palmer were in possession of narcotics. They were both transported to headquarters for processing. After processing they were both released pending a court appearance. Ruiz was issued motor vehicle summons for making an improper U turn.

On Feb. 13, police arrested Kevin Reisch, 20 of Kinnelon, and charged him with disorderly conduct. Reisch was initially stopped by Drew University Public Safety officers for trespassing. Police arrived on campus to assist Drew Public Safety and Reisch became disorderly. He was transported to headquarters for processing. After processing he was released to a family member pending a court appearance.

The Madison Police Department and Volunteer Corps responded to 22 medical emergencies during the past week. The department also investigated 12 motor vehicle crashes during the week.
